Genetica: A Sci-Fi Universe of Genetic Engineering, Warfare, and Exploration

Over the past few years, Genetica has evolved from a game focused solely on microbiology, modifying cells proceduraly, into now a fully realized sci-fi universe. What started as an experiment in genetic research and biological discovery has expanded into a dynamic, player-driven galaxy where strategy, warfare, and survival shape the fate of a civilizations.

Now, players take on diverse roles beyond genetic engineering—mining deep-space resources, infiltrating enemy systems through cyber warfare, commanding fleets in large-scale PvE battles, orchestrating drone swarms, and managing high-risk transport operations. Every action is recorded through detailed ship logs, each telling its own story of conflict, discovery, or survival.

By shifting our focus from a single scientific discipline to an interconnected galactic ecosystem, we’ve created a universe where intelligence, adaptation, and control determine success. Whether uncovering hidden anomalies, shaping economies, or waging war across the stars, Genetica is no longer just about studying life it’s about mastering an entire galaxy.

Scaling the Universe with Unity 6 and DOTS, and Generative AI

With our migration to Unity 6 and the integration of DOTS (Data-Oriented Technology Stack), alongside the power of Generative AI, we've unlocked the ability to simulate unprecedented levels of detail—empowering players to explore, exploit, and shape a universe like never before.

By leveraging DOTS, Genetica can process vast amounts of real-time data efficiently, enabling large-scale simulations that were previously impossible with earlier technologies. Whether it’s an asteroid belt stretching for miles, a fully simulated ecosystem, or intricate ship graveyards hiding long-lost secrets, the game world feels more alive and responsive than ever.

In addition to DOTS, Generative AI enables us to dynamically create vast, intricate environments, alien life forms, and even evolving ecosystems. This AI-driven system adapts to player actions, ensuring that no two experiences are alike. The combination of real-time world generation and AI-driven behaviors opens up a universe that constantly evolves—whether through unique planetary ecosystems, adaptive enemy behaviors! Originally, procedural generation was used to create textures and materials, giving us the ability to generate individual cells and worlds. But now, with Generative AI, we can do almost anything. This advancement allows us to go far beyond the basics of world-building and into dynamic, intelligent systems that adapt, evolve, and respond to every player interaction.

Now, not only can you mine asteroids, research alien life, or salvage derelict ships, but you’ll encounter a world that responds intelligently, organically growing and evolving, driven by both data simulation and generative intelligence. This transformation allows the universe to feel more alive, interactive, and personalized than ever before.

Our Long-Term Vision

We aim to create a universe where biology, technology, and exploration dynamically evolve. Every system is interconnected, shaping the way players interact with the world. Here’s what we’re working toward:

Biological Evolution at a Micro and Macro Scale

Our roots in microbiology remain strong, but we’ve expanded far beyond them. Now, every plant, animal, fungus, and bacterial strain can grow, evolve, and spread dynamically across planets, stations, and deep-space environments. This means:

  • Terraforming and Biotech Advancements – Introduce genetically engineered plant life to barren worlds, altering environments for future colonization.
  • Epidemics and Bioweapons – Diseases can spread through trade routes, stow away on derelicts, or be weaponized for tactical advantage.
  • Fungal and Bacterial Networks – Alien organisms may form massive underground networks or infest abandoned ships, creating unexpected challenges and opportunities.
  • Genetic Engineering and AdaptationStudy, modify, and create new species adapted to extreme environments, unlocking breakthroughs in survival, technology, and warfare.

Expansive Mining and Industrial Production

With DOTS, we can track thousands of resources across dynamically generated asteroid fields, mineral-rich planets, and industrial facilities. This allows for deeper resource management, trade, and large-scale production.

  • Asteroid Fields – Every asteroid is fully simulated, with unique compositions, densities, and mining challenges. Some hold valuable metals, while others contain hidden dangers.
  • Salvage and Derelict Ship Graveyards – Explore haunting wrecks filled with forgotten cargo, malfunctioning AI, and remnants of past conflicts.
  • Manufacturing and Invention – Use mined resources to create new technologies, customize ships, and unlock groundbreaking scientific discoveries.

Ship Customization and Fleets

shipashipb

Ships in Genetica are more than just vehicles they are an extension of your strategy and play style. Our modular ship customization system allows players to design, modify, and upgrade ships with a deep level of control.

  • Component-Based Upgrades – Swap out weapons, shields, engines, and onboard AI to tailor performance for combat, exploration, or trade.
  • Custom Loadouts – Adapt to different challenges by installing specialized tech, from hacking suites to biological research labs.
  • Salvage and Reverse Engineering – Recover lost technologies from derelict ships and integrate them into your fleet for unique advantages.
  • Fleet Composition – Build and manage an entire fleet, assigning roles and strategies for different ship types, from nimble scouts to massive capital ships.

We don't want to give out too many of our features, we plan on releasing a beta soon;
